can pistons be pressed off and be ok? i have had 2 places tell me they can do it but can't guarantee they won't ruin them, i'd like to buy a stroker crank and 400 rods but use my new pistons. KB-silvolite 120's but they are on 5.7 rods already, is this do able??

Doable but a "harsh" operation. A quality shop should have no prob. The" can;t guarantee" thing is a CYA caveat. But it is a operation that requires some care. In the many I did as a kid, I never hurt one. If I could do it, anyone can. But it is NOT a timed event.

John,
The KB pistons are the most difficult ones to do. You have to use a fixture that actually goes in and supports the rod rather than supporting the piston. Not many shops have the fixture to do it. I don't...I send them to another shop in town that does. If you try to press them off in the normal manner by supporting the piston, it will probably ruin the piston due to the way the KB's are made.

Good point Bill, I was unaware of this. We used the same jig for nearly all ( exe the small Brit 4 cyl stuff).
