Does anyone know what type car these seats are from? The guy I got them from many years ago took them from a 68 camaro he bought. They look like 67 or 68 Chevelle seats but the pattern isn't correct. I saw a set just like them on EBAY but the ad only said "66 67 chevelle, cutlass, lemans, gto bucket seats" it didn't specify which one they came from. They do have the button on the side,so they have to be 67 or 68 I think...Also, the button is on the same side on both seats...like someone had 2 passenger side seats...BUT The tracks are correct..one right, one left.
Is it possible to move the button when restoring the seats? Also, will the chevelle covers fit? Can I had head rests to them? If the chevelle covers won't work I need to know what one's to get( GTO,CUTLAS ETC) The car I have is a 72 Chevelle....it doesn't have to be correct but would like them to have the correct pattern in the vinyl. Any help is appreciated.

I'm gonna say 67 seats. Chevelle covers will work. They look like they are from a GTO.

Maybe you could trade someone on here for the correct set. Put a post up in the for sale wanted section.

You can add headrests without a problem, the peices are available aftermarket to add them. However- 67-68 seats cannot be converted to 69-72 style lock backs. The side release mechanism is totally different.

THe covers will fit just fine, but you will get wisenheimers telling you "hey buddy ya know your seats are from a 67 or 68?"

Personally i like the 67-68 side release style much better than the 69-72, i wouldn't hesitate to put the covers you want on them and run them.

just my $.02

Thanks guys....you know what is funny. I bought those seats several years ago while I was building my dad's El Camino...it is a 67. He found a set of seats from a 72 with headrests and new cloth/vinyl covers(yuck) for $100 so he bought them and used those instead. So he has a 67 with 72 seats and I have a 72 with 67 seats!! :clonk:And NO I'm sure he won't trade cause his have new covers and are in better shape. But what about the fact that these seats both have the buton on the same side? Can that be moved to the outside or do I need to just live with it? They are both passenger side seats I think.

Here is the car...It is an old picture taken in 1995 I think. This was my first car which I built when I was 18 yrs old .It had new 1/4 panel skins and new interior(bench seat) in 1994 when it was painted last....It's still in good shape but it got flooded last summer and ruined the engine and interior so it had to be taken apart and completely gone through again.Plus it was starting to develope some rust under the top like most do so it was time for a redo.Back then I put a bunch of street strip junk on it with a 406...this time it will have a 454 and be put back as close to the way it should be as I can.
