Not Chevelle related. My 95 Z28 wears both the rear tires out on the inside, It has the factory wheels and the stock size tires (245/50/16). It didnt always do this but has the last couple of years. Its never been wrecked or hit a curb. The inside of the tire will (is) completly smooth and the outsides still show decent tread. The car has 180000 miles on it and I usually put Goodyear GSC's on it although I have had other brands on it and they did the same thing.
Any ideas why it would do this.
Thanks.

I'd think about the only possible way for this to happen is if the axle tubes somehow bowed upward at the ends relative to the center section. Maybe the plug welds holding the axle tubes to the center section weren't adequate?
Other than that, there isn't a whole lot of movement going on in a live axle.... Let us know what you find, I for one am curious!

Ron I have seen this happen on pick ups and as Tony said the rear housing was bent from loads carried and high miles. I can't imagine you overloading an F body. My son has a 94 Firebird, about 130k on it with no tire wear problems.
Measure from the garage floor to the axle tube at wheel and center section, the measurement should be the same. I f it is greater at the wheel end you found your problem.

Thanks guys, I am also stumped. I'm going to try to measure from the floor this weekend if I get any time from work. I replace the tires on this car every year and they always wear like this now. As far as overloading it, no way it can happen, it's a convertible. Ever seen the trunk in one of these things? Its about the size of a bread box.
