What year calipers are the best to use? I did a drum to disc conversion, but to be on the safe side would like to replace the calipers as well with the first pad change. What year would be the best. Do all a body calipers fit? 67 up till 72? I have 69 calipers on there now I'm told. Any advice or input would help. Theyre all about the same price with a hefty core.

1967 and 1968 calipers are different from the 1969 and up ones... The 67 and 68 are fixed 4-piston calipers, while the 1969 and up are single piston, floating calipers...
1969-1972 calipers are interchangeable... And there are lots more vehicles than just the a-bodies... I have heard that even when using the late model,tall-spindle, 12-inch brake swap, you can still use the 1969-1972 Chevelle calipers (not 100% sure on that though)...
Not sure if there is a big benefit either way, but the later stuff is easier and cheaper to get/rebuild. I have heard the early calipers tend to leak more...
If you already did a drum to disc conversion, then you are stuck with whichever of the two styles you have. The spindles and rotors, as well as the calipers, are not compatible...

Definitly go with 69-72 setup I'v heard nightmares about getting the 4cyl calipers rebuilt. something about having put new sleeves in I cant remember exactly.
I used some old spindles from a A-body parts car. I went to a local garage and ordered calipers, rotors, bearings and flexhoses and all the hardware needed. I think I went for remanufactured calipers and master cyl. When Ordering I said for a 72 Chevelle with Disk. The price came to 420 CANADIAN. thats like 270 American And i'v seen kits for over 1,000. and I got a perportioning valve for 5 bucks ! at a junk yard. I took it out of a 85 Cammaro seems to work great.
GL whatever you choose
