I have a couple of problems. I have a 72 elcamino that won't start unless you play with the shifter. Where is the neutral safety switch? Transmisson or column? Anything I should be made aware of? Also I'm putting on a cowl induction system (trying too) on a small block. Can this be done? Can someone tell me about the switch that needs to be mounted on the gas pedal. Any help would be great

if it is a column shifter it is on the column. And if it is a console shifter it is on the shifter on the right side.

And if it is a manual tranny the Neutral start switch is mounted on the clutch pedal assembly IIRC

the gas pedal switch triggers the firewall mounted relay which in turn opens the inner plenum door on the hood, theres actually 2 doors on the cowl induction hoods that work in conjunction with each other.the upper top flapper door is vacuum actuated and shuts with engine manifold vacuum when running/idling and opens when vehicle is shut off and when you mash the throttle. The switch mounted on the gas pedal is just an on/off switch to the relay,it's connected to "IGN" power feed on the fuse block you should have 2 wires for the switch one pink and the other light brown.Ground Up sells a complete kit for cowl induction, including vacuum pod,one way check valve, pedal switch, relay, harness directions..etc

Thanks for the information, but is there any way that I can get an actual picture diagram pointing out where everything should be? And, is it possible to mount it on a small block because I'm having some clearance issues with the distributor and the thermos-stat housing. The thermos-stat is a taller one because it has to clear the temperature sensor. The intake is an older edelbrock performer. Would changing to the newer edelbrock air-gap intake work with the cowl induction? Remember, this is a small block. One last question. Was the cowl induction designed for a big block only application?
