: Brake line routing?
Rusty Rat Jun 13th, 09, 6:34 PM I just got a disk brake kit from Right Stuff for my 67 BB SS. Does anyone have any pics of the line routing and what clips go in what holes. I have pics of all the clips from before but the kit they sent doesn't have the same clips. Some are correct like the double line clips, but only 4 in the set. Pics would be great if anyone has them.
Thanks, Brian
helimike77 Jun 15th, 09, 12:10 PM Which kit did you buy? I am about to purchase their complete stainless kit with the proportioning valve mounted at the master (dual resevoir).
Paul427SBC Jun 15th, 09, 5:48 PM bought Right Stuff kit for my 69(manual 4 wheel disc stainless lines) fit good except needed to make 1 line not in kit. rear feed off combo valve.
combo valve in kit is junk. Im on #4. each time a different port leaks. flare in port not straight or too shallow to seal. do yourself a favor check on bench before in stall. I used a sharpie to color in flare in line and attach to combo valve to check seal. last valve had
about a 32nd in gap. flare was out of round. have new combo valve coming from different source. as far as clips go, i just did what made sense
rubadub Jun 15th, 09, 6:56 PM This probably won't help, its for a 69 chevelle, but it might give you an idea on whats what, anyway for what its worth.http://www.1969supersport.com/brakeline.html

Rusty Rat Jun 15th, 09, 7:00 PM Mike,
Thats the kit I got.
helimike77 Jun 16th, 09, 10:38 AM Are your original clips double clips? Right now I think there are 9 or 10 clips on the car. My brake line clips look the same as the fuel line clips and are riveted on. From what I was told by right stuff the new ones use screws/bolts to fasten instead of rivets, but were supposed to look the same.
Rich-L79 Jun 16th, 09, 1:21 PM A friend of mine put a disc brake conversion kit on his car and had a dickens of a time. Apparently there are a number of different styles of brake lines for '69's, not sure why. His car was a mess when he got it so the originals weren't much help telling him how things should look. As it turns out, he kept getting mismatched pieces for various styles of lines and it was very confusing to sort out!
It's good that you bought a complete kit all at one time. I've always had pretty much good luck by hanging the big stuff first, putting in the lines that are easy to spot as to where they to and how they attach and the rest all fit in later with a little bit of trial and error. Once you run the line on the frame, the locations for clips will become fairly apparent. Even the frame on my project wagon had pre-drilled holes for big block style lines even though there were precious few big block '65's made by the factory. I think I did drill one new line for a clip, but that was about it.
Rusty Rat Jun 16th, 09, 4:22 PM Thanks guys, I was tring to go for the original looking clips. Guess I'll have to give Right Stuff a call.

Rusty Rat Jun 18th, 09, 4:08 PM Just talked to Right Stuff Tech and he said the closest to the original brake double brake line clips are the RSCLP17 for 1/4 or 3/16. Its a red double push in. What do you use for the 3/8 fuel line then? Guess I should have asked that.

cheveslakr Jun 18th, 09, 4:28 PM If you want the original factory look, you probably need original clips. I used my origiinals, just cleaned them, painted them the olive drab color and pressed them into their original holes. I used a small phillips tip screwdriver to shove in the center of the rivet to flair it out again. This looks near perfect and the clips were the right price. If you have a hobby shop near, just bring your original clip in to match the color. I'm extremely lucky here in portland, as there is a gentleman that has 10 of every part that came factory on our cars and sells very reasonably. If you want his name just pm me and he'll gladly ship you some rust-free clips.
helimike77 Jun 19th, 09, 10:32 AM Brian on the new clips from does it look like you will have to drill new holes? I just powder coated my frame and do not want to drill any extra holes if I dont have to.
Rusty Rat Jun 21st, 09, 7:18 PM I didn't have to drill any new holes.
