: Line lock ?

While I have my brakes all torn apart, I thought I would throw in a line lock that I have had for a few years.. I got from a friend, and have no directions with it..

Is it OK to install it between the master cyl & the distripution block, or does it go after it??

I am trying to put it in a stealthy location (next to the Z bar on the frame) and it would be ALOT easier to plumb it before the dist. block..

TIA,
Scott

It's not a problem to put it before the distribution block, that's where mine has been for years. You will notice, though, that when you're using it the "brake" idiot light might come on; that's because it's recognizing the pressure differential between the front and rear systems when you have it engaged. It's kind of handy actually, kind of a built in indicator for the line-lock.

That's where I have mine installed, also.

Make sure you install it going the right way. Mine had a specific input and output.

Again, I do not have any paperwork with it, but I am ASSuming that the inlet is the one with only one hole, & the outlet is the one with 3 holes (for adjustable positions)

Thanks again,
Scott

While I'm on the subject, do you guys use a toggle switch to arm the line lock?? I have the switch that straps to the shifter, & I wouldn't want to bump it...

PS, are there any better places to put the switch other than on the shifter???

Sorry to ask so many questions, but I haven't really had to mess with brake stuff for quite a few years graemlins/clonk.gif

Just bumping the button while you're rolling won't harm anything, it'll just close the line to the rear brakes. It wouldn't activate the brakes accidentally.

The shifter mounted button is all we have in the race car....that works fine for us.

I'm sure Don meant "front" but in any case he is correct about bumping the button.

Accidently closing off the brake line while the brakes are not being applied will do nothing.

Thanks Dean, you really let me off the hook, my heart sunk when I read that.. Especially after hooking the Proportioning valve to the front, and having to re plumb everything redface.gif ..

I don't think I could have plumbed that thing up again...
