: 69 BB upper alternator bracket bolt
Don_Lightfoot Jun 10th, 09, 11:17 PM I've done some surfing and found the following bolts that apparently are for my application. Who knows if the sellers really know the applications. My build date is March/69 if that matters. Here are the letters on the various bolt heads:
WB
TR
SB
RSC
Any input as to one of these being correct, or something else, is appreciated.
Don_Lightfoot Jun 11th, 09, 8:19 AM Just to clarify - this is the adjusting bolt that screws into the alternator.
fastss396man Jun 11th, 09, 5:24 PM Don, I'll check mine as soon as I get a chance... May not be today.
Brian
1badss396 Jun 11th, 09, 6:22 PM I dont have access to my car now but I think it is WB and the TR is for your water neck.
Don...Mine has "L5" in raised letters with 3 hash marks.
Don_Lightfoot Jun 11th, 09, 7:23 PM Thanks Tony. Knowing your car, I would assume that bolt is original.
Brian and Brad - let me know what you find out, thanks.
ls6ragtop Jun 11th, 09, 7:40 PM Don,
Not sure if this will be of help to you or not but most of the 70's I've had that were original hardware were SB or SBC with the 3 hashmarks which just denotes a grade 5 bolt. The L5 on Tony's bolt is likely original as the L headmarking bolts have the grade next to the letter as in L5 for a grade 5 bolt and L8 was grade 8 etc. The alternator adjusting bolt should be a grade 5. I don't think I've had any cars with WB headmarkings on the alternator originally but that is what is marketed from repro sources for this application. Before I get bashed, there is some hardware used on our cars with WB headmarkings.

Don_Lightfoot Jun 12th, 09, 11:08 AM Well, here's what my assumption is. Tony's car is virtually all original which would indicate his bolt is correct. Chris has always provided knowledgeable input to all threads on here. Thanks guys.
Here's a picture of the bolt in question. This is certainly not any big deal, but perhaps others may benefit from this little tidbit of correctness.
fastss396man Jun 12th, 09, 12:44 PM Don, My bolt is a "TR" can't confirm originality.
Paragon Reproductions (Corvette Catalog) shows all alternator adjusting bolts with the "WB" head marking for Corvette years 1958-78. Size 5/16 -18x1"
Their alternator attaching bolt kits are marked with 7 - "TR", 1 - "WB" and 1 - "U".
This probably just adds to the confusion.

Who knows, could be another of those "plant" specific things or "manufacture" things or "region" things, or
