I'll bet it doesn't bring the $1M plus that it sold for a couple years ago.

Sad to say it but, I'd be surprised if it brings 1/10 of that the way things are now.

Oh no, say it ain't so :( Damn, my lottery ticket hasn't come in yet.

I remember before the BJ Auction I was flamed "big time" by most everybody on here when I said the car would sell for over $700K (I think that was the figure I threw out). Over a million was certainly not expected. I won't even hazard to guess this time around

I guess 500k. Why in the world someone would try and sell that in this economic environment we are in is beyond me. I would wait a couple years, guess the guy is desperate for cash

My guess is there's a reserve on the car so if it doesn't meet expectations, it won't sell.

Ralph Whitworth was originally building a Car Museum outside of Sparks Nevada to show all these cars .Started building it but never finished. It was gonna be open to the public too.

I'll be interested to see what the Jungle Jim FC's go for. Heard he paid 1.3 mil for them. Snake bought all of his stuff back. Lots of cool race stuff in there.

Micky,
Speaking of old race cars, you wouldn't happen to have any pictures of the Tinker Toy when you picked it up from the Bakers would you? Sorry for going a bit off topic.

Chris, I dont have anything, no digital pics for me back then. Mark Meekins may have some, he was the one that found it. Dick Bridges bought it with Chip Gerst for 100K I think. It was packed in a pole building with a bunch of stuff. My wife and I went and picked it up. I remember it ended up with a quickie resto by someone in WI or MN. Sold at auction, then its changed hands a few times I believe. We had 3 LS-6 rags at the same time all dk blue. Dick kept the 4 speed car. The others were auto.

Thanks Micky, I was hoping somebody might have pics of how it looked when you picked it up from Baker's. Calling the first resto a quickie is being kind. I finished the 2nd resto on it this past winter and I'm trying to put together a picture book of it's history, but early pics seem to be hard to find.

Chris, I believe there was a pic or two of the Tinker Toy on the H.A.M.B. site or the Yahoo Stock Super/Stock Forum. I might have one of Tinker Toy racing Ray Allen at Indy. I'd be interested in seeing your pics and info on Tinker Toy also. Are you going to ACES Maryland Show or GM Nats at Carlisle?

Chris, I'll look thru my old stuff. I doubt I have anything. Wife says it was 1990 when we picked it up. I remember it was in real nice shape.

I was just watching a Barrett Jackson behind the block on Hulu, it was the episode where Ralph Witworth and Ron Pratte were in the 4 mil range on the GM bus. It got pretty intense. Ralph bought a few other cars at that auction.

Anyways, so what happend to Ralph, did he get out of cars? Did his museum ever open?

Why would he even sell the Ray Allen Chevelle? I mean, it was only a few years ago that he obviously wanted it extremely bad.

The RM auction doesn't appear to be only Ralph's collection, it was a bunch of cars.

I wonder how many were his?

After a little more research, I guess they were all of Ralph's, from the Flying A Garage. Wow!
