I just bought EDL-3376 and 3476 for front and rear on a 66 chevelle, i have the car on jacks, the when i took out the KYB's they are about an inch longer than Edelbrocks? do i need to install these shocks with the suspension compressed? or on the ground so make them fit. i thought you werent suppose to compress the suspension to put shocks in. Please clarify, i called summit and those part numbers are correct.

I have Edelbrocks on my '71 and had no problems installing them. Can't remember if they are the same part # but I would imagine they are.
I like them but if you could maybe post how you like them compared to the KYB's, it would be interesting because I never had anything but the OE ones on before.

I got the classic gray ones (haven't installed them yet) but they do look really short. The rears bolted up perfect, but i haven't gotten to the fronts yet. LEt me know what you come up with, because when i took them out of the box they looked small too. Considering my coil spring is like 17" long and the shock is like 15".

They are 2 inches shorter in the rear and 1 inch shorter in the front compared to KYB's. I think i have to compress the spring a little to get them in. the rear i think i just have to lower the jack stand to bolt the bottoms in, the front does not reach just by putting it in without compressing the spring i hope, im going to try it right now. there isnt enough thread im going to use the KYB bushings they look smaller then EDL's. I guess EDL shocks dont travel as much as KYB??

The backs on my car seemed to be about the same, i didn't really put them up next to the old ones since they looked about right. All ic an say is the rear of the car is great riding.

Well they went in okay, i had to lower the reat from the stands to get them in. it looks good feels tight and good response, i didnt drive it yet. and the fronts went in, i just had to compress the spring a little with a jack. they definatly dont travel as far as KYB's do, which makes sence, the less shock travel the better!
cant wait to drive it

the kybs are longer because they are older and probably bad ie reason you replaced them. so once broken in they will everntually become teh same length

The edelbrocks ride AWESOME, atleast in the back of my car. Handles better than my friends 2003 honda civic. He was actually impressed that my car can handle as well as it does. AND i haven't even done the front yet smile.gif !!!!
