When we got our 71 SS 454 its interior was gutted and we'
re putting the finishing interior touches on it.
Does/can anyone have/upload a photo of where the remote driver mirror bezel goes on the door panel? I thought for sure there would be punch out holes on the door panel but noooooooooooooooooooooo.

Marc,
Just put new door panels on my 1972 SS 454 Coupe. Should be the same? I measured from the straight sides -back edge of door panel and the bottom edge of door panel. Will check tomorrow on the the dim's and reply. I remember it is not a square hole! May have to take some pictures for you too.

Marc,
Its 33 1/2 from the back edge of the door panel to the rear corner of the cut out. And 17 5/8 from bottom edge of door to bottom edge of the cutout. Jim

Recently installed a remote drivers side mirror into a '70 ss chevelle. An important part is to be sure at least one hole in the escutcheon will allow you to secure it to the metal of the door, and not the large opening in the top, right of the door panel. If both screws hit the opening, it won't be secure and youll already have cut up the panel.
Use and awl at the proposed spot to be sure there is metal behind where you will be attaching the escutcheon. It can be moved to cover the hole from the awl, unless one is way off.
Use plastic wire ties to keep the cable out of the path of the windows travel up and down. Mine turned out to be something of a job, but so nice not to bump the mirrors adjustement each time I pass the car in a tighter garage, and not notice this until I need the mirror in trafic.
A definite cool-factor.
