this is a camaro question but i knew you guys could help.My father in law has a 69 396 4 speed car he bought in 71 and has raced as is since, recently he took the power booster off because of lack of vacum and ease of working on it.With the original master bolted back up he couldnt stop the car (disc fronts)so he went to another master and now the left front is holding after brakes are applied. He attempted removing the brass to get at the check valve but has no luck so he wants to just buy thge right master cylinder.Anyone know which would be the correct and good amster
Thanks Dennis

The "right" master cylinder for a '69 Camaro will have the casting # 5468309 on the passenger side ... and US stamped on the front pad. A good restored one will go for about $150. The replacements from AutoZone are $15, and will work fine.
As for the check valve ... the flare seat is removed by drill/tap to 1/4"-20, and put a screw and washers to pull it out. I'm trying to determine though, I'm hearing reports that the factory never actually put a check valve back there?
As far as brake problems ... there is a different pushrod used between power and non-power. A so when he did the conversion for this ... he might not have also realized there are different length pushrods. A short pushrod, with a deep MC piston will result in NO brakes!! Of course, you also can't bleed them either.
