Its not in a Chevelle but my camaro. I broke the flexplate in it and was wondering if anyone had suggestions on what one to get to replace it. I only want to replace it once and the car will be getting more power in the future.

i forget what brand my friend went with, but it was an AFI cert one.
i think tci maybe? so far a few hundred 10sec track passes.

I'm curious how you broke the stock flexplate as it isn't very common.

A cheap replacement is the CAT flexplate, looks the same as stock but is thicker.

If you want really beefy than TCI is the way to go.

truthfully I think you have something else that is either wrong or went wrong.. Where or how did it break??? Reason I ask is most if not all 4l60e's would self destruct before the flexplate went.

Only reason to upgrade to an aftermarket FP is to get SFI cert for racing. Depending on what broke or how it broke could indicate another problem with loose fasteners or possibly an incorrect installation after a service.

Id be checking things out pretty thoroughly if that happened to me as I doubt its the flexplate itself that failed because of design problems, which it most likely didnt. Unless youre pushing over 800 hp and probably alot more than that would you need to start worrying about the flexplates durabilty.

watch out for poweder coating on the TCI flexplates!!!!
if you have it sand it off.

failing to sand off the powdercoating will result in death rattles from the trans area.

Not sure how it broke:confused: There was a poll done on LS1tech and I think 35% of the guys on there have broken a flexplate. In 2000 GM went to a lighter weight one. There is a guy at work the broke two stock GM ones before going to a TCI(which I just bought). He was about 350rwhp, where i'm about at.

my friend cracked his in his 02 ws6. nto sure how either. probably hard launches with a 4k na converter and a 3600 nitrous converter, on et streets.
