: CB'09 embarrassment
ed1969 Jun 7th, 09, 11:49 PM I really do know my chess parts, but put me in front y'all and I freeze:o. Hope you'll forgive me! ( Plan on taking a public speaking class soon) Actually the reason I did the game/donation was because I like to help or participate in some way. Since I'm not proud of the car that I brought this time, I thought I'd do something extra. Already have an idea for next year that y'all can enjoy. Maybe Dave should call me Game boy instead of "Hollywood". Oh, and for Mr. Wilcox didn't get ya @ the track, but I did @ the awards:yes: ED
427L88 Jun 8th, 09, 7:21 AM Not proud of the car!?!? Wait? 69, dog dishes, ran like a bat outta hell at the track? Naw, you're kidding!? Ed, I dont remember your last car you brought to the Can Am show, but if it had been that 69, you would have won President's choice. And clearly I'm not the only one who dug the way that car looks. Maybe I'm misunderstanding your definition of "pride" here. Is it becuiase you didnt have 1000 hours of your own labor in it?
ed1969 Jun 8th, 09, 8:15 AM Gene, Thank You! The red car is a 68, Last year I had my dusk blue L-78 car, which I easily had 1000 hrs on it . And beleive it or not i have close to that in the 68, just have'nt touched the body yet. And when I learn that rough track better, and Hook, I'll really surprise you! ED
ss1970chev454 Jun 8th, 09, 9:33 AM Your 68 and the chess set were incredible! No reason to appologize for freezing up. It could have been worse. You could have rambled on and on like Dave Sharp! :D
ACES1 Jun 8th, 09, 10:44 AM No apologies needed here, Ed. You did just great in front of the crowd. I'm sure that I speak for everybody who attended CB'09 when I say that you, your Chevelles, and the way you conduct yourself are all in the truest spirit of ACES and Chevell-abration. Thank you once again for your very kind donation, and to other who donated and bid on the items. The auction may have extended the "tent time " a bit, but I hope y'all agree the cause was worthwhile. I'm on my way to see "Ole Man's" wife, Miss Helen, this morning, to bring her the proceeds from the donations and auction. Our dear friend may have passed on, but his kind, caring, and compassionate legacy will live on at Chevell-abration and in the hearts and minds of us all.
427L88 Jun 8th, 09, 11:03 AM Yes, I'm sorry, I have a mental block on red 68's and guys named Ed - MY BAD! I'm the one who's embarrassed now! Of course its my fav year, 68.
For sure Chuck, my biggest regret in not having Old Red there was to not be able to show him for Old Man one more time at his funeral. He always wanted to swap cars. Now, I wish I had obliged him. Plus, I think his ride had A/C!
Ed, bring it to Md in a coupla weeks and go to Cecil for a grudge match and maybe you'll get Mr Wilcox then.
427L88 Jun 9th, 09, 10:17 AM TRUTH! And its a great show venue with great folks!
ed1969 Jun 9th, 09, 7:48 PM I'll be there, and to Ohio, Can-Am,and Sturbridge . The other ACES shows are just TOOOOOO! far for us, until we retire, If were able to!!
hurstL78 Jun 9th, 09, 11:03 PM Ed, I noticed you were a little shakey in front of the crowd ;), but I wasn't going to laugh too hard because I probably wouldn't have done any better myself. BTW, you have nothing to be ashamed of about your car, I would put it in my garage in a heartbeat (if I had room).

686972BOB Jun 10th, 09, 10:28 AM Ed1969--if I were you I would not worry about Mr. Wilcox,I would be worryed about that other old guy named BOB ,next year!!!! Your cars are all great, your to hard on yourself.I'll trade butt-ugly for your 68 any day.
427L88 Jun 11th, 09, 10:08 AM For sure, while I dig Bob's car, I just LOVE the way you've done your 68. You have to break up a red car ( I dont much like red) with a stripe and the dog dishes are so righteous on that "canvas" ! I might just have to copy you on my 67. ( which is red)
If I may make an observation, Ed, you have to flog it harder in the water box. I beleive, and I qualify this by saying I'm no racer, that you'll need really warm tires to get that bad boy to stick. Music City has been awful that way, but I think the new surface seems OK, although the right lane sucked that night. Witness that bad arse 69-70 Stang that couldnt stick it in that lane but did well in the left.
ed1969 Jun 11th, 09, 10:33 PM Thanks Gene for the tip. I seem to have no problem @ another old track( Lebanon Valley NY) 60' times of 1.58 @ 11.30 et, Hooks great there! ED
