I was just finishing up the rear suspension on my rolling chassis. I am making it for my 67 convertible. The original frame was badly rotted and I located a 66 convertible frame in excellent shape. Anyway all I had left to do after working all morning and into the afternoon, very humid here, was to install the new springs and shocks and it's done.
I was seating the top of the rear springs when I noticed the seat diameter on the frame is larger than the springs. I checked the old original 67 frame and sure enough the upper rear spring seats are different, smaller diameter.
Does anyone know if I get springs for a 66 will I be able to mate them to my 67 rear end?
I plan on buying a new Moser 12 bolt or a 9" rear end in the spring what specs should I use when ordering 66 or 67?
Any advice/info is welcome.
If I do not respond until tomorrow it is because it is Corona night at the Lord Wakfield and I am due. I have to give myself credit for not losing my cool, I just laughed, my son son though Dad lost his mind.
Anyone interested in 2 67 rear springs from Year One spec for 67 convertible big block, powder coated Dupont Blood Red, Email me.
The number one the frame is 3878327 can anyone confirm that this is from 66?
Thanks,
Dale

You can use 66 springs on your 67, no problem. Or you can change the spring perch. But, if the frame is already painted, I'd just buy new springs. This story makes a good case for pre assembly before finish coating anything.

The early 67's used 66 springs. You will need the rubber pieces for the top of the spring.

I purchased and powder coated the springs over the winter before I had the body off the frame. I do have the rubber insulators to the top of the springs.
Will 66 springs mount on a 67 rearend? I didn't think so, I think I would need to change the spring mounts on the rearend housing.
