The dash in my 72 is not really in bad shape but the pass side mounting ear is broken off. Any suggestions on how to repair this ? Thanks

Dave

Dave,

If you have the broken piece, I've had good luck using a "super glue" made by a company called "Cool Chem". I bought some at Autorama a few years ago.

Unfortunately the broken piece is long gone.

Im not sure of the tab your talking about but can you make a "L" shaped tab out of metal to replace it? you can glue the one end on with gorilla glue (http://www.gorillaglue.com/glues/gorillaglue/index.aspx). Clamp it on and let it sit over night. That stuff will glue and engine into the frame...

IM going to use this from eastwod to fix a few spots on my dash this weekend. http://www.eastwood.com/rigid-plastic-repair-kit-black.html I got it in the mail today. I can report how it turns out afterward.

Beware that rigid plastic kit. The dash is a three layer animal. Poking goo into cracks won't work. I don't know about attaching broken stuff with superglue , but I've used the watery type to fill the crack, let dry, plane excess, fill recess, ... etc... up to a dozen times and the crack is filled with a very hard mixture maybe 3x width the original crack but still flexable on the surface.

Use a very sharp blade and look for white shavings.
