I am fixing to start detailing the front suspension on my 68 elcamino. It is a frame off custom job. I do mean frame off. It looks like it is in a thousand peices. Thats OK cause now I get to put it all back together and make it better. What I am wondering is what do you all recommend for powder coating on the suspension. I plan on doing the A arms, springs, backing plate, stabilizer bar and maybe a few more things. The frame is done in chassis black. The bottom of the car will be painted the body color ( Inferno Red ). The engine compartment will also be painted body color. Motor and Trans will be a cast iron color. I want the suspension to detail the work put forth and not look like a fad. Any suggestions? Thanks..... graemlins/waving.gif

I would go with most parts black and cast iron on some of the parts (like spindles, backing plates, sway bar etc). IMO, it looks "pimped" if you mix too many colors. If you think that's too boring, you can make it look more detailed (without looking cluttered up) by using different sheen on different parts, just like the original finishes. For example, make the A-arms semigloss, springs glossy, etc. On a custom job it's a matter of personal taste but the more radical you make it, the harder it will be to find a buyer if you decide to part with it (remember that black and purple Firebird that was posted here a while ago). Just my 2 cents.
