Hi, Going to be putting front& rear springs in my 66. convertible. I am doing the tall spindle conversion so the front end will drop an inch by itself so I would like to keep the springs at a stock height so I only have the 1 inch drop.
I have 2 ideas. one is to use moog 5244 which is which has 315 lb/in spring rate and it will be at stock height, its the heavy duty option for my 66 in the parts books.
The other is to use moog 6041 which has a 500 1b/in spring rate but should be about 2 inches taller by my calcs, so I would cut an inch off the spring which should result in a 2 inch drop to bring it into stock height. It will end up with about a 550 lb/in spring rate. Think this is too heavy?
I will be using 1 3/8 sway bars up front and in back (already have them) and springs in back that have about 23% more spring rate than whats listed as stock for my 66 (same height, I don't have the moog number where I am though).
What do you think? Here are the numbers someone gave me on the springs
CS5244 - 3.63" inner diameter, .640" bar diameter, 11" install height, 2124lbs load weight, 315lbs/in, 17.75" free height
CS6041 - 3.65" inner diameter, .718" bar diameter, 11.25" install height, 2806lbs load weight, 499lbs/in, 17.12" free height
