Hey guys, I have an opportunity to buy the front disc brake setup off of a 66 chevelle for my '71 malibu. I have 4 wheel power drums. When I switch to the disc setup, I would like to also convert to a manual setup. What model vehicle would have the manual disc master cylinder that I could go purchase over the counter to bolt onto my '71?
Thanks!

Adam,
The discs should swap over, but 1966 Chevelles never had discs, so they are already a swapped item... Need to find what year or style the calipers are...
As for the master cylinder, I think you also need to know if those "66" discs are the 67-68 four-piston-caliper or the 69-72 single-piston caliper style. I think the fluid requirements and therefore the master cylinder, will be different.
The 67-68 are a bit more uncommon, but just as easy a swap (depends on what the previous installer found available...
If it is the single-piston caliper, then I would think any 69-72 non-power disc brake Chevelle master cylinder should work.
If the 66 has manual brakes you could use that master too (but I'd rather get a new one)...
I think you will need a "manual brake" push rod between the pedal and master cylinder...

Great info Tony! I really appreciate it!
I just realized that they are off of a '67, not a '66 graemlins/clonk.gif
Any idea where to get a new manual push rod? I'll check my OPG and NPD catalogs.

there is no separate manual push rod. Buy a 67 or later chevelle master for discs \drums non power and it will come with the rod.

You'll need the new maser cylinder anyway, drum brake master cylinders will not work properly.
If you can, just get the whole setup from the donor car.
