OK, the center link for a 64-67 is different than the center link for a 68-72 chevelle. Big price difference in the two. The physical difference is the spindles on the 68-72 are smaller and don't fit snug in the idler arm and pivot arm. Can you take a 68 center link and build up the spindle on each end to make the fit snug?

The spindles should be the same from 64-72 except for maybe the caliper brackets for the 4-piston calipers.
Are you finding that the taper is wrong on the inner tie rod end? I'm a little cornfyoozed because the way it works is that the drag link fits between the pitman arm and hte idler arm, and the tie rods go from the drag link to the spindles.

There is an early and a late 64 drag link. One is 13/16" and the other is 7/8" diameter. I also always thought that the 68-72 had a wider chassis which would need a longer drag link.

Chevello is correct the spindles are the same from 64 through 72, just the brake caliper bracket mounting bosses, and the bolt size on the steering arm.

Guess I shouldn't called them spindles. The taper on the ball nut is larger on the the 64-67 than the 68-72. They seem the same length. Just sits loose because of the taper.

OK,we're not talking about the spindles we're talking about the studs on the center link having a different taper.I wouldn't do it,it would not matter how much the price difference is.The possibility of the parts loosening while your driving it and losing steering control is not worth taking that chance.
