Greetings to all.
Have searched the forums, but don't seem to be finding conclusive answers to my questions. Thought I'd ask here.
Have a 1971 El Camino, SB with factory A/C (which I'm in the process of removing)
1. I believe I lost the Heater core, as we had a coolant leak that drenched the passenger floor board and pavement below. How do I access/find the Heater core? Is it in the wheel well area or inside the cabin?
2. Removing the A/C box at the firewall. I have removed a few screws/nuts along the top and side of the box, but does not want to let go? Any trick here.
(BTW, would like to keep fan functions of the heater, are these tied into the A/C wiring?)
Thanks in advance, Bill

1) Acces to heater core goes trough the AC/ heater box that is inside the cabin, under dash. Remove it, screw of the plate and you'll have acces.
2) It should come of when all bolts are out and nuts are of. 4 Nuts are mounted on sort of studs that go trough firewall from the AC/ heater box inside cabin.

In order to keep fan functions, retain blower resistor and blower relair. Check my setup (not completed yet)

AC delete plate. The relais is now inside the car.

Thanks Gerard,
that answers most of the questions. Which source did you use for the A/C delete cover? (A very clean looking project)

that's an american graffiti AC delete plate. i got one too.
use the search tool for the site to look up "american graffiti" or "ac delete plate". there should be tons of topics becuase a few years ago they had a delivery issue. there were many threads and posts about it. i ended up waiting about 4 months to get mine.

This is where I got my a/c delete cover.
I will be putting it on next week. Looks to be good quality.
I decided to go a/c free on my '72 Chevelle Wagon as well.

Check out Ebay- '68-'72 A-body air conditioner firewall delete cover(#330338564402)

I found a couple others at almost twice as much as this guy and his quality seems to be better.
