Well I just got done bolting in a new distributor from Skip White performance and a set of his 10mm spark plug wires and I must say it was very simple and the car runs great!

Another member mentioned the Skip White line and I gave it a shot

I ordered the

6500-R distributor for 54.65 and that included shipping!

I then asked about plug wires and the lady was kind and told me the different kinds. I wanted something pre-cut so I knew I wouldnt screw them up and make a bad connection.

I ended up getting brand they sell that is a 10mm wire that ARE made in the USA

These 10mm wires costed me 39 bucks and some change.

Shipping and cost of products landed me only 98 dollars.

Not to mention it was ordered on wednesday delivered on a Saturday from fedex and the distributor is said to have a 5 year warranty.

I just wanted to let everyone know that this was a KILLER deal and a great way to get HEI on your old hot rod. Here are pics of the distributor and plug wires.

Not a bad looking set for under 100 bucks right?

the wires might have been made in the USA, but i'd bet that the distributor wasn't.
but as long as it works and you are happy, that's ok. just between you and me- i've got a made in China MSD streetfire distributor in my Monte, and love it. money was tight and it came down to buying $100 worth of parts to rebuild my old one, or $140 for all new stuff.. so i went with the new stuff.

I put an HEI in my 66 many years ago and kept my last set of points for a souvenir.

Yeah, I know I know, I am late to the party.

But this seems like a great deal and I wanted to make sure other people knew about it.

They state this distributor also had a 5 year unlimited mile warranty as well, so yes the distributor is probably made overseas, but it works, and hey, this one was half the price of the overseas one you bought.

did you bypass the resistor wire to the HEI? You can't run the old wire that went to the positive side of the coil.

Yes sir! I ran a normal 12 volt wire from the fuse box to the batt terminal on the distributor.

It runs great! and starts almost instantly.
