You are going to need two wrenches

ctr them up first before you tighten?? Cause if you tighten the bottom bolt first and then draw down on the top it will dig into the chrome take your time work your way down
Dont cover the bumper bolts alrhough it looks better?? Are you will be stuck with the guards covering the bolts and since you scrathed the bumper putting them in wrong
There are some bright people on here and there is a lot of wise asses IMO

Mark,,,what I did with mine was cut a couple hunks of bicycle inner tube and layed that over the area's under the guards...positioned, tightened, and then carefully cut the excess off with a razor blade. So I essentially have a rubber insulator between the bumper guards and bumper in case I ever want to remove them.
