I have a 1972 El Camino with a 454 (LS5) with a Muncie m21 trans. THE CAR IS NOT DRIVEN HARD. I have just installed a CenterForce clutch and new Bell Housing, Z bar and linkage.
The clutch shifts and works fine but it is constantly losing it's adjustment and I have to adjust monthly.
Any suggestions as to what might be causing this.

Are you losing the adjustment, or is the adjuster coming loose.
I just put a new Zoom clutch in my 66 and I have had to readjust a couple of times now. Its broke in now so I don't see any change. How new is your clutch.

The clutch is brand new. Maybe 400 miles at the most.
It seems to be just losing the adjustment. I have nuts and lock washers on both ends of the linkage adjustment.

I don't have a logical answer, but I know it was at least that many miles before my clutch settled in and stayed stable.

Did you almost totally lose your clutch?? This just goes down to almost nothing.

Oh no. Not any where that bad. Mine is minor adjustments. Does your adjustment on the rod keep getting longer and longer from where you started? If it does, You may want to consult the clutch manufacturer.

Was able to determine what was wrong with the clutch on my El Co losing adjustment. The bracket, welded to the frame, that held the Z bar had broken it's weld allowing the Z Bar to go "much higher" than required. Hopefully this will be the cause.

Did you use an adjustable clutch fork pivot ball?
