I just noticed Freiberger is back, how did that happen? Did his website tank? Just curious because I think he brought life back to the mags he wrote for.

There was a recent change in ownership of the group that owns Hot Rod - dont know if that had anything to do with it.

In his welcome back editorial he said something along the lines of, "I tried this internet adventure and I'm happy to be back at Hot Rod." He also said he will be able to do things a little differently this time, so I think maybe he left out of frustration (maybe overwelmed) and returned with a slightly different game plan to allow him to do things the way he wants to do it.

I met him at the Power Tour in Cleveland a couple years ago. Nice guy. I didn't get the chance to yell at him for pulling engines with sandals on, though. LOL. And yes, he was wearing them then, too. It was about 100 degrees that day, so I give him a pass on that.

I followed his online adventures. The site was fun and interesting, but would take 2-3 weeks for new content sometimes, they changed the overall look midway through, then things just...stopped. Sad to see it fail, as it seemed like a true all around online "gearhead" hangout. But at least he'll be back at Hot Rod, and get them back on track, IMHO.

I like him, I also liked Matt King back when he was with the mags.

I would really like to see more fix what you have articles over replace with new, even though there are ads to sell, many other places sell the stuff to rebuild things. Taking Hot Rodding and Car Crafting back to thier roots, they were about making other things work and fixing what you have.

As a subscriber, I can say that the 1st issue with him back at the helm is by far better than before.

His site is still up. It is now called www.bangshift.com

He has a staff running it for him.
