hello,
though i searched the forum I could not find a answer nor really anything about this topic.. well with out hi jacking someone elses post. so..

I am helping out a buddy setup his whole suspension and he is running a 20x10 in the rear of his 66 chevelle.. he currently has the car lowered with a 2'' drop spindal in the front w/ 1 1/2'' drop spring and a (i think) 2'' drop spring in the back.... the car sits super low even with 18''s and 20'' in the rear.

doing normal driving and with a passanger in shutgun he has no issues.. but when he has his car packed with 4 people -> 2 in the back the rear tires then rub..

I know air shock we used alot back in the day.. and was wondering if he should just get some in the rear.. that way, he can go to the gas station when his car is pack with people -fill up the shocks.. and be on his way..
also not a bad idea to deflate all the way when at a car show...

seems like a cheapest way to get around this problem.

my questions are -is this a good idea?
well he have a problem filling the shock all the way up -if he has a 2'' inch drop spring in the back (will the rear spring just pop out)..?

let me know, i just want some insight from you all''

:beers:

You can add what I call "air bags" (I forget the brand name) inside the rear springs for about the same price as air shocks and the bags work MUCH better...most auto stores sell em and you can slip them inside the springs with out disassembly, run the flex air lines and your done...anyway I use them on my 72 el camino when I haul a heavy motorcycle and it really is better than the old airshocks...in fact I got rid of the air shocks.

I don't think those "air bags" really raise the car much, but rather let him hold more weight at the same height (by making the "spring" stiffer, not taller), which is probably what your buddy wants when its loaded with people...

A lot of guys use these for drag racing, installing just one bag to counteract the twisting when a car launches...

try searching for "Air Lift" (company name?) at Summit...
