: body bushings
72_Chevelle Jul 8th, 03, 11:32 AM I still can't decide which body bushings I want to get for my chevelle, I can get the rubber one's with all hardware from origanal parts groups for $114.95 or the polygraphite one's from pst for $100.00 and they don't come with hardware, can you buy just the hardware kits seperate because I don't want to reuse my old stuff?
What do you guys recommend?
gUmBaLL68Malibu Jul 8th, 03, 12:50 PM I see the body bushings on Ground up Restorations web site for $95.00. Might want to check it out, doesn't come with core support bushing though thats extra.
I am going to purchase the rubber bushings since i don't want to feel to much of the road.
72_Chevelle Jul 8th, 03, 5:53 PM Thanks, I'll have to look on their website.
So with the polygraphites the ride will be a little rough?
72_Chevelle Jul 8th, 03, 6:11 PM I just looked on their website and they have them listed for $99.95 and they come with core support bushings.

But I have no first hand experience with the poly's...

BK72SS Jul 9th, 03, 3:14 AM I have polygraphite body bushings and polygraphite bushings in my front and rear suspension on my 72 Chevelle. They have been installed since October of last year and I have not had a single squeak (kind of hard to hear anyway with my race magnum bullets)they do firm the ride up quite a bit but from what I've heard I should not have used the polygraphite bushings in my rear control arms (shoulda used the rubbers) so I will probally be switching the rear bushings out for rubbers. But the way the way the steering and handleing is I would'nt trade it everything is nice and tight with the way it steers and handles around twisty roads. So the polygraphite bushings do have there positives and negatives, it all depends how you want to drive it and how you want it to ride.

Aaron Thomas Jul 9th, 03, 4:37 AM The polygrqaphite is a stiffer ride, but there is less deflection in the bushing, so better handling is the positive. The graphite in the poygraphite is supposed to self lubricate and prevent squeaks. I have poly urethane body mounts and they don't squeak, but I eventually will add the a-arms, which I think will need to be lubed constantly as the a-arms move a lot more than the body mounts.
72_Chevelle Jul 12th, 03, 12:22 AM the kits from PST, what all do they include, do they have the core support bushing?
Gokou Jul 12th, 03, 1:30 AM I run polygraphite body bushings. They don't make any noise.
They firmed the feel of the car up immensely; the car feels a lot more solid compared to the old rubber bushings. Did it ride harder after installing the new body bushings? No. Did it vibrate any more? No. However the car just "feels" tighter as the stiffer bushings eliminate most of the body to frame flex.
I had a small problem with PST's polygraphite body bushing kit. They didn't include any of the steel sleeves-- you have to re-use your old ones. Unfortunately there are two styles of these sleeves, and my car came from the factory with a few of each style, one of which will not work with the polygraphite bushings. Luckily I was able to scavenge some from a junkyard and use those.
