Part No.? JIML82 May 27th, 09, 9:17 AM I found this GM part number in my notes for a 1965-66 standard steering column. Lower bearing 7802845. I can't be sure if it is correct or not. GMPartsDirect says that it is discontinued. But there is a possibility that you could find it on eBay or possibly still on a dealer's parts shelf. One Big Concern about the part number: Saginaw only manufactured tilt columns back in 1965-66. Chevrolet (and the other GM car divisions) designed and manufactured their own non-adjustable type steering columns before the 1967 model year. So I am not sure why there would be a Saginaw part number 780XXXX associated with a steering column designed and manufactured by Chevrolet. Jim wayner66 May 27th, 09, 2:25 PM Here's a page from the 66 Assembly Manual showing the bearing and part number. These were not available for a long time (I was able to salvage mine), but I believe I have seen them on Ebay fairly often lately. will02 May 27th, 09, 2:42 PM I just put one in from Hinsahws in my 65. Looked OK to me and fit very well. Matched the one coming out and I'm sure it was the origional. |
