Wilwood suggested their high temp raing fluid for their kits. Is this stuff necessary for a street/strip car or even desired? I use standard Autozone DOT 3 stuff with the 284* boiling point. What is everyone else using?

Castrol GL4 Synthetic.....with all the problems I've had getting my brake lines to seal, I'm glad I went synthetic. I'd have eaten up paint everywhere if I had the regular stuff.

My kit says not to use synthetic though.

EDIT.....it says not to use DOT 5 silicone fluid. No mention of syntheitc.

I can't even tell you what's in mine after so many years. But I know it's not Wilwood.

DOT 5 is really expensive anyway, and it's mostly used for big trucks, etc. I'm guessing you'd rather not pay $35 for a quart of brake fluid:noway:....$6-$9 is more like it with the Castrol or another good brand.

I'm using AP Racing's PRF 660 fluid in my car. It's meant more for competition use, no problems driving on the street. It's rated to 660 degrees which will more than cover what I am doing with the car. One side note, don't get the fluid on your skin, it's a bit irritating.
