: Nhra rules 09?

We wanted to run a fuel pressure gauge in the dash on our 66, it would just be nice to see the pressure @ full throttle going down the track for any adjustments. The NHRA rules states no fuel lines in the drivers area? Just wondering if this allowed or not?

The only legal way to have an in car fuel gauge is to use one with an isolator like the Auto Meter #5413. Just an FYI, always use a lliquid filled gauge for fuel pressure to dampen the vibrations from the pump and regulator.

Will they let that go? We have a 66, on alcohol, and having a few problems with tech in, was warned and kicked out last week, would be good to see the gauage for tuning reasons

Yes John. An isolator is legal. No fuel lines come in the cab. You mount it on the firewall and run a line with Antifreeze/water comes in to the gauge.. These can also be used for oil pressure gauges as well.

I know when we tech in our Super Gas car they look it all over.

The other choice is you can mount it on the cowl and look at it through the window.

9.7 @140 on the brakes is a great pass  What do you think it will run on a all out pass?

We are hoping for a 9.4 run @ about 145. We bought this car wanting a 10.5 car, but just could'nt get it to settle down. Its on a full tube chassis, backhalf, 456 rear, ladder bar set up. Its a good hot rod so far. Going to update the dash and door panels this winter back to original.

The other challenge is the rear tires, currently running hooisers and skate'n around on the top end, was told to switch to 5d Goodyears, anyone on this?

We switched from Goodyears to Hooisers (I have not made a pass with the new Hooisers yet) for the same reason, but we are running 33.0 X 15.0 tire size. It always seemed like when the Goodyears were at about 50% or less on the check holes the car would move around on the big end. My buddy had the same issues and went with the Hooisers and loves them (he has had two sets now) he found that a stiff sidewall slick helped his top end skating.

hmm, now I'm not sure what to run? Using 32x14.5x15 hooisers now, geting down on tire, dots have less than 1/8 in left. Will probably go alittle bigger this time, 32x14.5x 15 or so, shift light comes on @ end of run. How many pounds do u run? (air)

Also what does your car weigh? I'm @ 2800 pds

you can get electric fuel pressure gauges now, so there is no need for the isolator.

How does that hook up?http://s612.photobucket.com/albums.tt203/my66_2009/

Also what does your car weigh? I'm @ 2800 pds I was running 8 pounds but after I talked with the Hoosier guy we bumped it up to 10.5 pounds. My buddy runs 11 pounds and his car weighs 1,900# with driver My 69 weighs 2375# with driver

The best thing I can tell you is to call Hoosier and tell them what the car is doing and how much air you are running in them. They have great customer service and I'm sure they can help you. I talked to them in Topeka Kansas at the NHRA event and he gave me a ton of info on all tires.
