I know there has been numerous posts on this subject but one answer i can't seem to find. What is the ideal amount of turns on the rocker nuts? Most will say between 1/4 to 1 turn after 0 lash, why such a wide spread and is there any benefit either way. This comes up because i have been getting what seems like pronounced valve tap a 2000 rpm, its faint but its starting to bother me. at first i thought that maybe my valves where not quite tight enough and i was getting some valve float but that should effect the smoothness of the engine and i don't have that issue. Any thoughts? Thanks Alan

are you setting them 1@a-time or running or a bunch @-TDC or several every 90*????
i think the best way is running or doing 1@a-time in the firing order (more work) :)

I adjust mine at 20* BTDC at the end of the compression stroke. I just went through this "extensively" with the sizeable hyd roller cam I have in the motor. Cam is 306/314 @.006, 245/252 @ .050. Verified the cam was on the base circle on both intake and exhaust with a dial indicator. Set mine to "0" lash + 1/2 turn cold. Iron block w/ alum heads.
