: 66 original ride height?

I have a 1966 Chevelle 300 Deluxe coupe which originally had a 6 cylinder in it. It still has the stock front springs, and now has a small block 350 in it. I am just now getting to the front suspension and I'm looking to get new springs because the car sits about an 1"and a half off the ground. So my question is, what will the ride height be if I put in a new set of springs made for the weight of a small block in. I ask this because I like the stance of the car now and I'm hoping that the car will only go up a few inches . I thank you for your help.

There are so many variables (options, wheel/tire sizes, etc), thats its really hard to tell you were the car will sit with a certain spring...

The 6-cylinder springs shouldn't be too much weaker than stock small block springs, but springs will sag over time (38 years?).

Then theres also the spring rates available. Do you want "stock" springs or more performance oriented springs?

Hotchkis and others offer performance springs that are supposed to be "1-inch" lower than stock (and maybe 2-inch versions), but once again, there were many different stock springs, so the drop will not be the same with all cars...

The Assembly Manual lists the factory clearances (frame to ground, etc), and it also gives adjustments for various options...

Thanks for the info, I didn't realize that there were so many different variables involved. The reason I asked was because I want to raise the car up a little more because there is only about 1" of ground clearance, but I don't want to order a 1"or 2" drop spring and find out that I am in the same boat. I also don't want to get a stock spring and find that the car now sits 6 or 8" of the ground. Thanks again for the help I guess that I'll have to check the assembly manual.
