View Full Version : Dislocated Rear Coil Springs - Will it affect the ride?

My rear coil springs are halfway off their pockets and I was wondering if this will cause the car to ride rougher. I plan on getting them fixed in the spring, and add rubber insulators too.
Again, to put them back in place, all I have to do is jack the car up, remove a wheel, unbolt a shock, and then put the spring back in place and put it all back together? Is that how it's done? Thanks for the help!

It's about a 5 minute job. You don't need to remove the tire, just unbolt the lower shock and jack up the body. Use a pry bar or tire iron to pop it into place. Either jack up the car (quickest) or put the frame on jack stands and lower one side of the differential at a time.

Thanks Doug, I'll give it a try. I might have to remove the wheels anyway since I don't think my jack goes up high enough.

I did a quicky spring sway on a Monte and used the floor jack on the frame just in front of the rear end. Worked great.

I have 1 1/2 inch lowered springs and I have to reseat them every time I lift the rear off the ground even with the shocks and airbags in them! It really is a 5 minute job!
