I have a really weird question.... While replacing the brake lines on my 70 El Camino SS 396 with the stainless steel lines, I noticed the clips that secure it to the frame was painted different colors. The 1/4" retaining clips and the 3/8" clip were different colors. The 1/4" clips were yellow (noticed this on the inside of the clips when I removed them from the brake line) and the 3/8" was a metalic type purple. I know the ones from Ground Up are zinc plated. Supposedly, originally they were zinc plated also from what I have heard. Why would these be painted the yellow and metallic purple? These clips have the tab on them also if that matters at all. I am curious as I am doing a concourse car on this and I want to make sure they are correct. Any input would be greatly apprecaited. This car is apparently 90% all original and only has 44,000 miles on it. With that said, I would think that these clips are original.

I got new clips when I redid my brake lines. They came in the colors. My old ones were just rust color. smile.gif

I didn't care about original so I don't know if they are supposed to replicate the original style, but I doubt it. I'd more easily believe that what Ground Up sells is the original type.

Might want to ask in the Restoration Corner forum, more of the concourse type folks are in there.
