69 ElCamino SS, I have two bent Rallys on the back that I need to replace. I am looking at the chrome Crager Rallys thru Summit. I want to be able to run 275/60/15 tires. With the database the best I can tell for my ElCamino is that I need a 15/8/4.5 inch backspace for these tires?
Is that right ? I see some people use the 295/50/15 with the 15/8 also. Any certain reason? Just for a lower stance?

Those should be perfect. My 71 had 295/60/15's with 10 inch rims withn 5.5" backspace and they worked fine.

Thanks, but in the world did you get a 295/60 to not rub?

Yes you will need 4.5 bs with 8 inch rims. Tires will not rub. My car in my sig has my old AR wheels with only 3.75 bs and 8.5 wide. They "will" rub with no air shocks. With my new 4.5 bs AR rims they are 8 inch not 8.5 and tires "dont" rub and do not need air shocks. Tire size was 275/65/15. I dont like the 295/50 they dont have the right side wall. Lokk like home boy tires...

Thanks guys, my Elky has the air shocks on it still so I am good there. Just to be sure are you guys talking Elcamino's or Chevelle's fitment. I saw your sigs both have Chevelle is why I ask.
My Elcamino has low gearing so I am trying to get a wide but tall tire to maybe help drop the rpm's a little.

Richard, I have different wheels and tires you can try on your car to check for fitment when I do the brakes!

I know on my 68 I run stock 15x8 ralley wheels on back and with the 275 60s without airshocks they do rub if I have anything in the back of the truck, I think the stock backspace is 4 inch on the ralleys. So I imagine the 4.5 would work fine. I went to 255 70 15 on the elky since, I perfer the taller tire to fill the wheelwell and its clears fine. jim
