Ok guys last weekend for some reason my pass. lower ball joint decided to lose the nut and cotter pin. I was able to get the spindle back on and to get a nut to thread back on the joint.
My question is, should I replace the ball joint???? Or is it good enough that I can just put a new nut on, and call it good. I wasn't going but maybe 4 mph when it gave out on me, I dont want to take the chance of something else happening again.
thanks for your help!!!!!

Kevin,
Replace the ball joint. In addition to being dangerous to you and yours,a loose BJ nut can damage the spindles lower hole.As with all front end parts always tighten to the next cotter pin hole, never loosen to line up the cotter pin.If it was properly tightened and still came loose you should take a close look at the spindle.

There ain't no more input, $18 and a couple hours gets it done, its not worth your life (or my wife's if you're driving beside her when it lets go :( )
