Do the upper control arm bushings on the rearend go all the way through the eye on the rearend or does the eye just center the bushing? I have my new ones all the way in and the flange on the bushing is flush with the eye. It puts my upper control arms in a bind when I try to put a bolt in it. I hope this is a clear explaination.

the bushings should be centered on the "ears" if I remember correctly.
The (hotchkis) ones I bought had a lip that would bottom out on the ears and position the bushings properly. I just pressed them in until they wouldn't press any further.
Another brand might not have the lip and require you to center it.

Thanks Charles. I had a feeling I had screwed up. I'll back them out some tonight.

Jody. I had Moog bushings with the same lip Charles mentions. Could it be you have the wrong bushings?

I used PST poly, and they had a lip too. I can't imagine you'd be able to go past the lip, because it's hard enough to get them in to begin with. What kind of bushings are they? I would imagine they should have the lip to locate them if they are the right ones. Do they look like your old ones?

Thanks for the help guys. They are new Moog bushings from Carquest. They do look like the old ones. I couldn't remember how deep the old ones were in so I installed them all the way to the flange on the bushings. It was tough and thought I'd never get them in but I did. I'm going to put the new ones in tonight. Just not as far in.
