What do you think would be a good offer price for this. I am thinking about buying it.

The quarters need to be replaced but he believes he has new ones. The fenders have the usual rust holes in them at the bottom otherwise are supposed to be ok.

The trunk pan needs to be replaced. The glass is all good, the radiator support, trunk lid, floor boards minus the trunk, doors and hood are all in good shape. The interior needs to be replaced. The roof has some but minimal rust. The bumpers are not dented and could be re-chromed.

Power drum brakes, non-posi, non-A/C, PS needs new front inner fender wells.

Based on the pics, no engine, bad interior, rust, and the color, I would not pay any more than $1,000.00 for that car, and prefferably less.

I was thinking about $1800 - $2000.

I agree about the color but it would be getting painted so I’m not too concerned about that
Can you find me a similar car in your area for $1000? They seem to be going for more than that around here especially with buckets, console and decent floors. Let me know I’d appreciate it.

I would tend to agree on the 1500-2k. I would give that much provided the floors were in good shape. there seems to be a price different from eastern to western where the western cars seem to sell cheaper.

Tim, if you can go look at the car in person you may be able to answer some of your own questions. 2K doesn't seem unreasonable if the car as is described but you need to see the frame, floors and everything else up close. It could be well worth the money or not worth 200., from these pictures, you just can't tell. PS, hopefully you can do the sheetmetal replacement and body work yourself, if not, I'd save up and wait to buy a better car.

I can do sheet metal, painting and mechanical work. I appreciate the comments. I did ask him about the frame and it he says it’s solid and very clean. I plan on looking at it tomorrow or Saturday.

Tim, if you can do all that and the car is solid, I don't think it's overpriced. Good luck hunting!!

Quarters look trashed, roof may have problems and the floors probably arn't in very good shape. I wouldn't go more then 1k. I like how he lists it as a 396 car, is it a Malibu 400? Even so without the engine its just another rusty Malibu.

Looks to have a '72 front end on it...you need to look at VIN.

the buckets and console are a plus for it. I would say $1,500 to $1,800

I just bought a 72 in about that same shape minus the buckets and console but with a 12 bolt for 1K. I thought I did okay.

Did buckets and console come with sweep type gauges? Is that a tilt column also?

Yes the buckets and console are simply options available in all coupes. I can't see the tilt lever so its hard to tell if its tilt but if it is the column is worth 250 and the buckets for cores will bring around 400 and a factory console about the same. You can't go to far wrong at 1500 to 2000 if he has a good title.
