I installed the Carter 172 mech pump, Robbmac 1/2" fuel sender and the 1/2" braided line, fuel filter and fuel log today. I need to run up to Burlington to a sprint car speed shop and pick up one more -8AN to 1/2" braided line fitting then I will be done. I also installed the 1" HVH super sucker spacer on the stealth intake. I need to cut the opening on the fiberglass hood so the air cleaner will fit up inside. I will take care of that tomorrow.
I was thinking too that I will take the fuel line from the pump to the carb and stick it in a fuel can and crank the car over and get fuel flowing and flush out the lines just in case there is any crap in them..

speedmart is ok but the shucks in mv has the same amount of an fittings and such as well as the whole performance corner at the same prices as speedmart. i tried to support local but they would have had to order some of the stuff i needed and i couldnt wait.

Noway, the crap fittings they sell at Schmuck's don't even get close to my car.:noway:

Most of thier stuff is way overpriced.

Dave do you know who makes summit brand fittings?? Thats what I put on and they all worked perfect... I figured they are Russell fittings with the summit name on them...

I used Russel from that schuck's, and it didn't go well.

I do prefer AeroQuip, but they say it's really up to the braided that you're using. Some is bigger then other's, making matching some fitting's to hose a pain in the ass.

If you mis-match brands for the fittings you risk the chance of leaks due to the angles used in the mating surfaces. I have Russell fittings and lines all over Taz without any problems.

I agree with Martin.. It's nice to stay with the same brand.. Although I do have a mix on all the cars :( I actually like the Summit brand the best... Take a look at the inner diameter of some of the fittings.. a #10 Summit Fitting compared to, lets say a #10 Earl's fitting, has a noticable difference on the inside diameter of the fitting... Probably no biggy to most but bigger is better with fuel supply in my book.. especially on 90 degree fittings and the like..

They say the biggest thing is to not mix and match hose to fittings. Use all one brand, I usually order what hose and fitting's I need from this place.

Then, if I need to get pipe to AN fitting's, I'll get them from SpeedMart if I have to.

Got everything wrapped up this morning. I went up to schucks and got the russell fitting then went to Harbor Freight for a big sale and bought an air body saw, some rags and micro fiber towels.
So after getting everything hooked up I primed the system and hooked it up to the carb and fired it off for a couple of seconds and checked for leaks and yes there were a couple but I got them taken care of.
I used the air body saw to cut the hood so it would come down and clear the air cleaner. I checked clearance and I can fit a 5" filter under there with about a 1/2" room. So I ordered a filter and a fuel pressure gauge from Summit to finish it off.
I also went to Lowes and came up with an idea for hood props. I bought two 3/8" all thread about 3' long and found 3' long aluminum tube to put the all thread in. I just cut the alum tubing back on the ends so that 1" of the all thread stuck out and put a nut on each end to hold it with about 1/2" of all thread sticking out. I drilled two 3/8" holes in the bottom of the hood and already had two holes in the core support so thats what holds the hood up now.
After all that I had time to give her a bath. I think all thats left is taking the hood back off and doing some work on it and getting some landau black on it.
