I'm getting an intermittent squeal from my fan. It does it sometimes if I blip the throttle and also at shut off. I pretty certain it's the clutch because it'll do it at shut off while the fan is making it's last few spins after everything else has stopped moving. My question is: is there any alternative to replacing it? Anything that can be lubed or adjusted? I think I know the answer but figured it was worth a shot. Except for the squeal, it seems to be working perfectly and can idle forever at the thermostat rating.

Many years ago I had the same issue with the fan clutch, and I found relief with some light weight oil placed on the shaft seal where the clutch rotates on its mount.
The recommended practice is to replace the fan clutch at the same time as the water pump, since a failure in either one can make vibrations that cause the other one to fail. It's disgusting that the fan clutch can cost more than the water pump.

squeeks when throttle is blipped,i'd 1st chk to ensure the fan & all other belts & pulleys are clean of oil & are tight.
Could also be w-pump bearing going bad.
Could in fact be the fan clutch making nose so try lubing as already suggested and it doesnt fix it replace it because maybe its worn out causing the noise from sloppy worn shaft in fan clutch.

Thanks for the responses guys. Scott, it'll do it when I shut the engine off and the only thing still moving is the fan. I drove it this morning and it didn't make a peep. I think I'll shoot some oil on the shaft and see if it helps.
