Guys,
I am doing a tall spindle upgrade. I have a spindle off a 93 Caprice and teh tie rod off an earlier Chevy. They both fit about the same, which doesn't look anything close to what the original fit like! There seems to be a lot of space where the old one didn't have any. Is this normal?

Yep..thats a problem.
What p/n did you use?
This is some info I found.

""The tie rod ends used are TRW ES2033R/Moog ES2033RL (1964-70), and TRW/Moog ES427 (1971-72). The same part #s are the same with the generic McQuay-Norris product line.

The tie rod ends used are originally used with 1975-81 Firebirds and 1973-77 GM A-bodies (Moog ES427R), and the ES2033RL part is originally used with 1978-88 GM A/G intermediates""

Quickie way to check the tapers is to color the tie rod end or ball joint taper with a marker, stick it in the hole and give a couple twists. After you pull it out, you should see the marker wearing off pretty evenly along the taper. Rubbing off at either end and not at the other would be nogood.
