I got on the creeper and slid under my car this evening. Right off I see the letters C and L marked on the frame rail.
Two spots....near the rear wheel and also up by the front wheel. This is on the left side. White markings approx 1" tall or so. Rubbed on one letter and it came off. Kinda like hard chalk...thought it was paint at first.
Letters are very defined and crisp. Capital letters.
These were not there last time I looked. Appear very fresh.
Any one ever heard of some kind of scam that was marked on cars in this location? Wouldn't see unless you looked under the car. I never leave my car alone except when it is locked in the garage. I do leave the walk in door unlocked most of the time.
Freaky....I knew if anyone had ever seen/heard of this that this was the place to ask.

If it was parked at a tavern maybe the police marked it, but you never leave it set, a family member didn't borrow it did they without you knowing it.

The police could mark it then drive by with a mirror on a long handle and flashlight and they wouldn't have to get out of the car.

Also on the left side where they could drive up to it.

Been anywhere with "meter-maids" recently? That sounds odd.

We have no taverns...dry county. No meters. We only have two red lights in the entire county. I live way back in the boonies in a valley by a lake circled by mountains.

I mess with the car daily. I was changing out the brake rubber lines last night and crawled under to change the rear one.
Just makes a person scratch his head and think, hmmm.

Highly unlikely, but they have those mirrors with the handle, they wouldn't have to lay on the ground to do it.

But there marking headlights and tires of cars parked at taverns, I wouldn't put anything past them.

The wife and I were going to come to the meeting last Sat. but.......had a little mishap with the Chevelle.
Rear left wheel came off running 55 down the road. Didn't wreck. Car coming the other way barely missed us. It's a wonder. Good Lord watching over us.

Lug nuts all came off. Hmmmmm, had a guy redo my brakes on the rear a couple of months ago. Glad it didn't happen on 985. Teach me to do EVERYTHING myself now.
Curled the wheel well lip in about 2 inches at bottom rear and gradually less up to about 8 inches from the bottom. No other damage or warping.
Not too bad. Gonna start on it tonight. Have it fixed in a week or so.
Put the wheel back on and drove it on and off the roll back. $40 precaution vs driving it home.

I would wipe them all off in case it is some sort of scam that involves marking in hidden spots. Just in case someone is using those markings.
