I know everyone has told me to be patient but I have a prime window for purchasing a car right now so I am looking at allot of cars. I spoke to the person selling this one and he came across as a decent enough duck. The big mystery in this car is when and if the tranny has had any attention in a while. While no particular problems have been noted with the tranny it was just unlcear as to the recent background. According to the seller and the photos the cars at first glance looks pretty good, chrome is in great shape, good paint job, trunk and undercarriage look good.

While I would much prefer buckets and a console it is my hugger orange I have been looking for. He said he would like to get 23 to 24 for this car. I think he would take 22 what do you think this car is worth?

Anyone who is in the Detroit area and is willing to look at this one for me, I would pay them for the time.

Hey Dave, You may want to check out the '72 SS in the classifieds here. Its orange, has buckets and console and is a 4-speed. Looks like a nice car for the money. Its listed in the "70 cars for sale" section. Good luck.

What does everyone think the car is worth? Is the 23-24 grand he wants a fair price?

I looked at the 70 in the classifieds that was just posted I am noty a fan of the white interior...

Hey Dave, if the body and paint is really as good as the seller claims, I think it's a fair price for the car. The underhood and underneath look decent enough and the wheels look nice. If you don't mind the bench/column, I'd say go for it. You can always change that later if you wished. I believe that anytime you can buy a car that DOESN'T need any paint or body work, you're well ahead of the game if you buy it for a half way decent price. Who knows when the next decent Orange car will show up, if that's one of your main criteria. PS for the money, even though it's a small block, I think the car for sale here with the white interior, is a much better deal moneywise.

I too think that if you could get it for 22k then go for it. Usually a car with that much detailing is ok. But I still would like to see it before I handed over the money.

While this one is a real departure from what I was looking for this one http://www.chevelles.com/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=31261&cat=24 caught my eye and for 18K seeemed like a good deal. He has e-mailed me a bunch of photos and looks very solid. Has the console not installed but goes with the car and the air conditioning while not installed he has the parts. Otherwise for the money seemed like a good fair deal and the blue color is growing on me.

Thoughts on this car?

Couple of thoughts.......

Everyone is giving an opinion to value on the E-Bay car and not one set of eyes has been laid on it. Not a good idea especially for a guys first car.

Dave you were excited about that car when first posted now you are ready to break and run.

When you posted the car I immediately went to the classifieds to hunt for something to compare to and spotted the blue car. We do not know what it will take to buy the car But it has the infamous obo. If this car can be bought for $6K back of the orange one I think it makes a great place for you to enter the hobby. That will buy a lot of pleasing cosmetics.

Either one of them deserves to be looked at. Keep in mind there have been a lot of cars painted orange, yellow, purple and other personal shades that make one more difficult sell.
