Installed a reproduction SS dash carrier in my chevelle and have some issues with the radio installation.
Problem 1 - When installed the shafts are tilted up slightly, the metal angle that sits along the top of the 01BFP1 radio is visible in the opening and seems to be causing the tilt I am seeing. The bracket is installed in the back but will not lift it up any further.
I am thinking that I may need to open the holes in the base of the cups to give me some play and allow me to slide the radio up enough to clear the clip. Can anyone confirm this?
Problem 2 - I am also not able to install the inner knobs. They are SS knobs but possibly 69 and not 70 as they will not go into the shafts and engage before the hit the face of the dash. They are black on the back and stepped, not like the ones shown at http://www.chevelles.com/radiotech/mistakes.html Do I have the wrong knobs. The repop manufacturers list 69 and 70 as being the same.
