I have a couple of door questions, I have a 69 Malibu. First I took the door apart and I don't have a splash shield between the door and door panel. Does anyone make a repo, should the car even have one?

Second question, I can't get into the car.... at least not easily. It seems worse when cold but I can push the door button and nothing. I suspect my door latches are bad. I replaced my passengerr door one with a used junyard one about 9 years ago but now it is acting up (driver side too). I really don't want to spend the money right now. Someone told me the grease they used waaay back when makes them all gummed up. Is there anything I can do to fix them or at least buy me a little more time?

you can use any kinda of thick plastic sheet cut to shape for the splash shield. go to lowes and get a roll of painter's plastic. that will be enough to do 100 cars.

the latches can be a real bear to work when they are all dirty and gummed up. I recently played this game on the wife's '71 Bronco. all ya gotta do is clean em real good with some solvent or wd40 then lube em up(I am kinda anal when it comes to this kinda maint that you only do once every several years, so i pulled it all apart and cleaned and lubed everything.) they work like new now. the key was hard to turn, the lock was hard to move by hand, and nearly impossible to push the button to open the door. now it all moves like butta!

so try that before you start replacing things.
