Well, I'm building up the 402, and it's estimated to put out 500hp and 500 ft/lbs to the TH350. I currently have 4 way manual drum brakes on 14" diameter Torq Thrust D's. Does anyone out there know how to properly size a brake system for the HP I have? Can anyone recommend a brake kit, system that they are happy with? The Chevelle will be about 3600 lbs and will be a weekend cruiser. I have looked at willwood.com and baer.com but don't know anyone who has used them. Another option I was considering was putting on a vacuum booster on the existing system before dropping the big bucks for a new brake system and wheels and tires to accept it all. Thanks for the help.

The amount of HP you are capable of producing has very little to do with how much brakes you need…. nice to be able to brag about having 500Hp though.
The first thing you need is some wheels as no adequate disc is going fit inside a 14" wheel.
The inexpensive route would be to go with a simple 11" conversion from a 70-81 or 73-77 "A" body car. You need the whole spindle assembly with rotor and caliper. You need to buy 2 new upper ball joints for whatever you take the spindle off and2 lower ball joints for the same. You will then need to have the lower ball joint turned down to 2.010 at a machine shop and buy 2 outer tie rods for the donor car. Assembly everything and road test. Maybe 300.00 total.
The "good" route is to call Wilwood and ask for a superlite 6 big brake kit... :D

You will also have a hard time finding a decent width tire in 14". You can now get 17" Torq Thrust 2's. Check out Summit for 17" tire sizes, that's what a lot of guys are going with. Also take a look at these TT2's on ebay. This is a very good price. Your Chevelle will also look and handle much better. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7949708603&category=66483
