4cly, 3 on the tree 69 Nova.. That's probably a semi-rare set up.. The fact that it lasted 40yrs without being swapped is truly rare..

I had no clue they put 4cyl in Nova's..I knew I didn't like them for a reason...LOL

Nothing wrong with Nova's:sad: Very few 4 cylinder ones left but they
don't bring any big money that I've seen.

oh yea, the 23 second quarter mile def makes me want the 4cyl option, however, a built turbo 4cyl would surprise people.

in california, they were just fleet junk, gas company, postal service, etc. they are rare, not because there were few built, but they were the cheap of the cheap and fell apart, beat on by employees. i've been to several auctions where they literally couldn't give them away.....went to the crusher....

My uncle bought one new, wanting to get fantastic gas mileage. It spent more time in the shop than in his possession. He gave up after a few months and traded it in.

It is a rare car and deserves to be preserved. Hope it doesn't end up as just another 350 Nova.

So , it needs to be preserved why? It was a slug, ****ty 4cyl, why preserve something like that and not make it better? It will be preserved, in the brochures. Oh look, I have a boring car with a boring engine but its preserved for??? LOL

It's very simple, in fifteen years, every Chevelle with be an SS with a 350 or a 454 with SS stripes on a flat hood, and every nova will be an SS with a 350. If you take that car and put a 350 in it, it will look like every other Nova on the planet. The car is special for what it is. I just hope this car doesn't fall into hands like yours man... Seriously

So put something cool in it like a 455 out of an Olds, nobody wanted to drive it when it was new with a 4 cyl, who would want one now? LOL. It's not a model T, its like restoring a 86 Camaro and keeping the 2.8, GAY, lol

 So, what you are saying is that it would be more desireable by making it a mutt with a 455? I know people who have very nice Camaro's with the 2.8. "GAY" isn't the best way to put it, since this who hobby was built around preservation. People wit your mentality are the one's that will doom anything other than a big block or a Super Sport. I'm sure that little Nova would draw a ton of attention. more so than a hacked up SS clone. Think twice.

these cars started in 62, with the chevy II, it was just a shortned six banger with a smaller carb. and smaller valves. by the way, i have no idea what i'm talking about, i'm spewing info from an article in hemmings, and even they say it idles horribly, and wasn't much thriftier than a six.

i didn't know this hobby was founded on restoration, but trying to make a factory car better than stock, or faster than stock.

look, cars from that era weren't all that great, cars now with heavier bodies and smaller engines run with the best of yesterday. personally i'm not too hot on today's design's and not only drive old cars and trucks, but wear vintage watches, buy vintage furniture....

this is an age old argument, to modify, or not to modify, and have read very terse artilces in hemmings from people on both sides. all the 4 banger nova's i've seen for sale, were dirt cheap, and i never moved on one of them, but that should leave open an oppritunity for somebody who thinks they are special.

like i said earlier, they were fleet material, and the reason few bought them at acution was the parts availability, was poor, i don't know that that has changed, and engine size doesn't always matter in my buying process, i still avoid these cars, my 70 with the 307 (not original engine) was slow enough....

Most people, even proclaimed "car guys", don't even know these cars existed. No, rare doesn't always = desirable, but I'd take it for a driver in a heartbeat. I'd take a camaro with a 2.5 / 4sp or lemans sprint too!

Ever heard the saying "Camaros are like ********, everyone has one". I don't think it's "Gay" to like something odd and original.

2.8 86 camaros are not rare, I'll pass on that one.

Very true, I was at a large cruise night a couple of years ago and amongst the sea of Camaro's there was one very nice '69 6 cyl. Camaro (done right).

I asked myself, if I could take any Camaro home from the show, would it be that one? :noway: But hey, that's just me. Whatever floats your boat I guess.
