It's a 3.55 (KF)12 bolt posi out of a 1969 (casting number 3959038) Chevelle or El Camino assembled October 31 (1968 assumed). I'll bet there is an E under the KF1031B (Eaton). Don't know about the other codes.

how do you know it is a 69 chevelle/ el camino? what is the correct size of pinion yoke for this application?

OK, I'm guessing it's out of a Chevelle, El Camino. :D Definitely, an A body though, and definitely a 1969. The 038 casting is one year only, but could have been installed in very late 1968 or very early 1970. But with an October assembly date, this one would have only been installed in a 1969. Check the casting date to find out what year it was cast in. I don't recall seeing a KF code for other A bodies, but I might be incorrect.

I think most 69's use a strap type yoke for 1310 u-joints. Maybe you better not quote me on that. ;) Somebody more familiar with 69s can fill you in on that.

If you are looking for a restoration correct 12 bolt for a 1968 you should look for casting number 3917124, again, a one year only casting.
