I saw in the Marchīs feature car section an editorīs note which says that Canada hadnīt metric system in 1971, referring to the speedo of the featured Chevelle. The mine (1971 Venezuelan Malibu) has a metric speedo, made in Canada. Although they werenīt using the metric system that year, surely they were making such kind of speedos at that time.

I'd guess the car was built for export, hence the speedo in kilos.
