I'm think of buying this 1967 El Camino. It has the matching 396, 3.73 posi and 4 speed (all matching), Car supposed to be stock with no modifications, Little rust around the rear window, everything else looks good, Needs restoring, Nothing Major though

I just read that there were 2565 Custom 396 El caminos made with automatics, How ever it says that there were less than 500 made with a 4 speed. So its gotta be worth some money right?

So its gotta be worth some money right?Chevrolet never kept figures on how many of ANY option were installed in a particular body style. The only thing that would be known are how many L35s were put into El Caminos since the L35 is reported with optional sales (and the El Camino is the only body style the L35 was OPTIONAL in) and since the L35 was the base engine in the SS396 series, it was not considered an option. Also, the L35 was available in both the 13480 300 Deluxe and 13680 Malibu series so even a breakdown of those two are impossible to know.
Transmissions were never broken down as to what engine they were sold with (although in 67 the TH400 was only available with the 396) and 4-speeds were available behind almost any V8.
Where did you read this (mis)information?

Bad thing about Wikipedia is you really can't trust anything that's written there. Now on the other hand, Dale's info I trust

Wikipedia can be posted to by anyone, just like here on TC. Unfortuantely someone has posted incorrect information. As noted before, on rare occasions, some options can be pinned to a particular body style such as the optional L35 in 1966 & 1967 but, again, the optional L35 was available in both 13480 and 13680 models with no distinction between the two. But, for U.S.-built Chevelles you'll never be able to get true numbers of any body style with any combinations of options, only extrapolations and evenly calculated distribution possibilities.
The bad thing about Wikipedia is anyone can post anything...the good thing is anyone can post anything - such as my 'fixing' the bad information. If I get time, I'll fix the bad 66 data as well. The base 66 El Camino was not the Chevelle 300 series but rather the 300 Deluxe series. But that's for another time.
